CCC Crash Course Annual Report
Custom annual report positioning CCC as leaders in the industry

Every year, CCC publishes an annual report called Crash Course. This report is widely known in the industry and has a custom design system for each edition. The theme for this edition was “Rethink“ — derived from rethinking common statements about car ownership and insurance in the future.

We started out with a few conceptual covers to narrow down a creative direction of the theme.
Throughout this process we evolved from the initial concept of “Evolution Revolution,” which highlighted moving forward to the future, to the final “Rethink” concept, which features color accent blocks to connote the rethinking of common statements/scenarios.
Along the way we also explored various typography treatments, the concept of shattered statements, and the unexpected discoveries of highlighted negative space.
One of the challenges for this project was having the report feel like it’s own style while still retaining the essence of the CCC brand.
In efforts to connect this report to CCC, we took elements from the style guide, such as the photography subject guidelines and the yellow from the secondary palette, and built upon them to fit the new theme. The supporting color palette was built to compliment the yellow accent while also having the ability to support data-heavy graphs and charts with clear readability.
